Design and operation of VMware ESXi/vCenter/vSphere clusters. Proven experience migrating bare-metal servers to dual geographically-dispersed clusters across multiple datacenters.
Sendmail/Dovecot configuration, custom anti-spam scoring macros, SPF/DKIM/DMARC policy enforcement, and country-code/ASN-based filtering — proven to reduce spam to near-zero for published addresses.
IP address management for large address spaces, DHCP for tens of thousands of nodes, BGP/RADB, ARIN point-of-contact services, NTP, and TACACS/RADIUS authentication for enterprise router fleets.
Enterprise infrastructure at scale
Spent 26 years at Texas State Government, advancing to Team Leader of Unix Infrastructure at the Texas Department of Information Resources, where the network served 200+ agencies, 140,000 state employees, and millions of citizens. Led enterprise DNS/DNSSEC, DHCP for 80,000 nodes, IPAM for 2.7 million IPv4 addresses, NTP, TACACS/RADIUS for 2,000 Cisco routers, and VMware virtualization across dual geographically-dispersed datacenters. Served 12 years concurrently as Network Security Analyst, operating a Gigabit Tipping Point deep-packet-inspection firewall. Also held the role of ARIN point-of-contact for AS1761 and personally diagnosed and resolved a mission-critical BGP routing hijack that had blocked payroll SFTP uploads for all 140,000 state employees.
Spent nearly 10 years at Datapoint Corporation, a Fortune 300 pioneer of distributed client-server computing and originators of the x86 instruction set. Advanced to technical lead of CPU board manufacturing and component-level repair, managing a staff of 36 and $12M in annual revenue. Designed a logic analyzer-based test set that monitored every CPU execution cycle and halted systems at first error during power-up, then transferred to R&D / Quality Engineering where I held final authority to release new hardware designs for production.
